Split Divisions Allowed

Divisions

The following Divisions are offered at this year's USGO:

Singles

Men's OPEN, A, B, C, D, C 40+, D 40+

Women's OPEN, A, B, C, D

Doubles

Men's OPEN, A, B, C, D

Women's OPEN, A, B, C, D

Mixed

Lower Division (GLTA B, C or D)

Upper Division (OPEN, GLTA A, B)

Players are allowed to play in different divisions for singles and doubles as long as their GLTA rankings allow.  The two divisions must not be more than one level different (e.g., a player may not play A singles and C doubles).

PLEASE NOTE: In the past some of the events have not filled up to the minimum number of entries (8).  If this occurs, then the players will have the choice of moving to a corresponding event at the same level or one level lower.

Consolation Rounds

A consolation round will be available to first round losers.  Players will need to sign up at the tournament desk.

The format will be an 8-game pro set with a regular 7-point tiebreak at 8 games all.  The consolation finals will follow the main singles scoring format.

Scoring Formats

The scoring format for each type of division is as follows:

Singles

Best of 2 out of 3 sets with regular ad scoring.  A 7-point tiebreaker will be played at 6 games all.

Doubles

Best of 2 out of 3 sets with "no ad" scoring.  Each set is played until 6 games are reached by a margin of 2 games.  At Deuce within a game (or 4 points all), a game-deciding point will be played, receiver chooses which player to receive.  At 6 games all, a 7-point tiebreaker will be played.  If sets are split at 1 set each, a 10-point tiebreaker will decide the match.

Mixed

A single "pro set" will be played, first team to reach 8 games by a margin of 2, regular ad scoring.  At 8 games all, a 10-point tiebreaker will decide the match.

Seedings

Seedings will be based on GLTA rankings 2 weeks prior to the start of the tournament.  Seedings will be based on GLTA points for singles and combined GLTA points for doubles and mixed teams.
