GLTF is a 500+ member tennis organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Throughout the year, volunteers organize social and competitive tennis events for our members, such as singles and doubles tournaments, league play, clinics, and an annual holiday party.  We host the United States Gay Open (USGO) GLTA tennis tournament and we are the largest LGBT organization in the country who actively participates in USTA tennis leagues.  Continue reading below to learn about our fantastic tennis offerings and to join!

GLTF does not discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity; so if you're lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or straight and you want to play tennis with one of the largest tennis organizations in the bay area, please join us on the court for the opportunity to experience some great tennis and to develop lifelong friendships!

Play the GLTA circuit

Many GLTF members travel together to other cities and play in GLTA Tournaments to add to their stash of trophies and prizes.  And that's exactly what (from left) David Chen, Paul Mabe, and Lonnie Fogg accomplished when they traveled to Palm Springs in May 2018 for the Grass Court Championships.

GLTF hosts our own internal club competitions in singles and doubles 4 times a year using a variety of formats including single elimination draw, Compass draw, and Round Robin.

We also host the annual United States Gay Open (USGO) tournament (on the GLTA world tour) every Memorial Day weekend.

Travelling Cup Teams

The ultimate in sibling rivalry, the Cup competitions feature teams from GLTF as well as our sister organizations in San Diego, Los Angeles, and other west coast cities.

Gold Cup 2018 Champions - Team SF !!!

There are four annual Cup tournaments that take place  between August and October, one for each level of play:

Open:    Cal Cup (October)

A:           Gold Cup (August) - 2018 CHAMPS

B:           Pacific Cup (September)

C:    West Coast Cup (September)- 2017 CHAMPS

Challenge Ladder

Join the GLTF challenge ladder and compete against your colleagues on your own schedule.

Use courts in your neighborhood or schedule your match at SFSU.  Prizes awarded at the end of the year to the winners of each divison.

Play in Tennis Leagues

 USTA League

GLTF enters teams for virtually every Norcal USTA league with home courts in San Francisco and East Bay. There are 4 seasons throughout the year with different formats and age brackets for matches at a variety of skill levels.

 GLTF's current USTA teams.

 GLTF League

GTLF 2018 Spring League Tennis

GLTF hosts our own internal league twice a year.  This league is more on the social side and teams are mixed gender.

Grow your tennis game

Tennis Academy

GLTF has 3-4 academies per year for players just starting out at the 2.5 to 3.0 level. The format is 4 consecutive weeks where you will focus on one or two aspects of tennis per session. New members to GLTF get a discount for signing up in the first 6 months of membership. You can attend just one or all 3-4 per year. Class size is limited to 12 students.

Find a Pro

GLTF endorses LGBTQ-friendly teaching pros throughout the Bay Area.

Take a Clinic

GLTF holds clinics for players to improve their skills at a variety of levels.  Clinics are held several times a year and are focused on a specific part of your game.

Relax with Social Tennis

 Bunny Hop

Regardless of your creed or religion, come celebrate the beginning of Spring at the Bunny Hop one day Mixed Doubles tournament (held the day before Easter).  It's a round robin format with prizes for the champions plus a few extra goodies for everyone.  (Hint:  think best bunny costume.)

 Love All Day for Women

The word ʻohana' means family in the Hawaiian language, but in a much wider sense, to include not only one's closer relatives, but also one's cousins, in-laws, friends, and neighbours.  The one day event is a special celebration for the women of GLTF!

 WTA Tournament South Bay

Join us for a fun evening of tennis in the south bay.  We get a block of seats to watch the WTA women compete on court and USTA hosts a diversity and inclusion reception for us.
