You'll play where the pros playThe Taube Family Tennis Center is where Stanford University’s Men’s and Women’s collegiate tennis teams play and it is also home to the Bank of the West Classic US Open Series WTA event. It’s where Venus, Anna, and Daniela play every year (and Lindsay-hopefully)! The Taube Tennis Center has also hosted several major tennis championships over the years, both on the collegiate and professional levels, including over 10 years of the Bank of West Classic. USGO Tennis Village at Taube17 championship-quality hardtrue courts: We’ll use them all for this year’s tournament, including the stadium courts. There are ample viewing areas for friends and family to watch and enjoy the competition. All of the courts are lighted and we have evening tennis sessions scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights. In addition, the courts have scorecards and singles sticks, which we’ll be using, and chair umpires using electronic scoreboards will call the action for all of Monday’s finals matches. Nice! Barbecue Lunch/Sandwiches: To keep you fed and hydrated, we’ll be hosting a barbecue lunch "throwdown" on Saturday, and providing sandwiches for lunch on Monday (Friday and Sunday lunches are on your own). For the Friday night tennis session you’ll be getting snacks and sodas and we'll barbecue up Saturday dinner for you as well. Yum! USGO is going "Green:" We'll be recycling everything we can, including food scraps and food will be served on bio-degradable plates and cutlery. Draws will be printed on recycled paper of course and we're offering free transit tickets to anyone pledging to use transit to get to Stanford. And please bring your old pairs of tennis shoes. We'll be recyling them into rubberized asphalt, helping keep roadways quieter. Other Amenities: Between matches, players can lounge around in the Orsak Family Heritage Room, featuring an impressive display of collegiate success and a large screen TV for watching the French Open early rounds. We'll also have a "players lounge" atop the stadium for your comfortable viewing of the matches away from the pesky public. There will also be Wi-Fi access to provide near real-time tournament updates. We ’ll also be providing fee-for-service racket restringing. Don't forget the free bridge card competition–sign up with or without a partner. And of course, between matches you can check out the beautiful Stanford campus and other activities going on. We'll also be using 8 tennis courts at Stanford’s West Campus Tennis Courts. These 8 courts are a short 5 minute ride (or little over one mile walk) across campus from the Taube Tennis Faciltiy. They are located at the corner of Campus Drive West and Electioneer Road. Check map below. There are also warm-up courts available at Palo Alto High School, 50 Embarcadero Rd, Palo Alto, right down the street from our host hotel Palo Alto Sheraton. Quick Links: |

Public TransportationTransit: The San Francisco Bay Area has good transit service, even on the weekends. Caltrain serves the Palo Alto Caltrain Station with trains running about every 15-20 minutes on Friday, and hourly on the weekend. On Fridays, the Marguerite Shuttle van will pick you up at the train station and take you to the courts. On the weekend, the shuttle does not run, but the tennis courts are only about a one-mile walk through the lovely Stanford Campus from the train station. Caltrain links with BART and Muni service in San Francisco and Oakland. In addition, plenty of VTA buses run up and down El Camino Real and will drop you off a short walk from the tennis courts. Go to 511.org for complete transit information for the Bay Area. |
