Tournament Welcome Party: 6:00-9:00pm at Adidas' Sport Performance Store, 845 Market Street in downtown San Francisco. Enjoy wine and cheese as you meet other tournament players, pick up your tournament gift packets, and check out the draws. Energy 92.7 FM, our media sponsor, joins us to welcome all the players and there will also be a raffle drawing for an Andre Agassi autographed "special prize," complements of Adidas. Players also receive a special discount on store items and you can sign up for World Team Tennis and Fantasy USGO at the Welcome Party.

Friday Day One: tournament action begins at Taube Tennis Center and Stanford West for all divisions except World Team Tennis. Check draws for schedule of matches. Also, Fantasy USGO sign-up continues thru Friday and cuts off Saturday 9am. Remember, all the action on courts 1-8 is broadcast live on Stanford Athletics webpage: GoStanford.com

  1. Courts open at 8:00am for warm-ups (additional public courts are available all weekend at Palo Alto High School, one block from Sheraton Hotel)
  2. Play starts 9:00am
  3. Lunch: on your own
  4. Tour of the East Palo Alto Tennis & Tutoring Program 5:00pm at Taube. The kids of our tournament beneficiary will be in their classroom facilities below the south stadium stands. Enjoy a brief tour of this wonderful study and strokes program.
  5. Women’s Friday Night Kick-off Party: Women get into the tennis action Friday evening at Taube Tennis Center. The USGO welcomes the women and celebrates the first of many fun events planned over the Memorial Day Weekend at Stanford.

Saturday Day Two: tournament action continues with action at Taube Tennis Center and the Stanford West tennis courts (5 minutes from Taube).

  1. Courts open at 7:30am for warm-ups
  2. Play starts 8:00am
  3. Barbecue "Throwdown" at Taube: 11:30am-3pm hamburgers, gardenburgers and hot dogs will be provided in the Chuck Taylor Grove picnic area at the Taube Tennis Center. Bring your favorite barbecue or burger sauce or salsa and/or barbecue side dish and compete against the best grub from players the world over. Medals awarded for the award-winning sauces and side dishes.
  4. Rosie Casals Tennis Clinic: 6:30-7pm Join 12-time Grand Slam Doubles Champion and San Francisco native Rosie Casals at the USGO this year. Rosie has generously agreed to conduct a doubles clinic Saturday evening to prime your doubles game for the start of World Team Tennis competition. Please have your raffle tickets handy, as we’ll be raffling off opportunities to participate on-court with Rosie during the clinic, giving you a chance to show off your tennis skills to everyone.
  5. Rockin' Saturday Night World Team Tennis Party: 7:00-10:00pm Round 1 of WTT starts. If you haven’t signed up yet for a team, either go online to do so, sign up at the tournament desk, or just show up by 5:30pm on Saturday, and we’ll put you on a team. Cost is $10/player if you’re already in the tournament, or $35/player if you’re not. Saturday barbecue continues into the night for all World Team Tennis participants at the Saturday night team tennis session.

Sunday Day Three: tournament action continues with most events at Taube Tennis Center. Play wraps up by 7:00pm to allow participants time to get ready for the Big Tournament Party.

  1. Courts open at 7:30am for warm-ups
  2. Play starts 8:00am
  3. Lunch: on your own
  4. World Team Tennis Rock 'n Roll Round 2 at around 4:00pm (check draws)
  5. Tournament Party: 7:30pm-11pm. The USGO's biggest party and extravaganza takes place at Cafe Du Nord on Market Street in the Castro. Upstairs in the magnificent Swedish American Hall we'll have plenty of great food and drinks, lively entertainment, raffle and silent/live auction, and much more, as we welcome all players and their partners/friends to meet our sponsors and beneficiaries and enjoy some good times California style. Special guest is Helen Carroll, Sports Project Director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights.

Monday Day Four: tournament action concludes at Taube Tennis Center. Chair umpires will call all the singles & doubles finals and we'll be using the electronic scoreboards to post real-time scores.

Volunteer Party: at the comfortable lounge of the Sports Basement, 590 Bryant St at 15th St, 6:00-9:00pm. The USGO is one of the most popular and successful tournaments on the GLTA circuit, and it's all because of you and our over 50 other volunteers who generously give of your time and resources to make the USGO happen. It's time to thank ya'll, give ya'll each a nice shoulder massage, wine and dine you a bit, relax, reminisce about last weeks long weekend of tennis, fun and friendship, and watch some recap videos and photo slide shows. The drinks and food are on the Sports Basement–aren't they great? Join us if you're a special USGO supporter.
