Try Before You Buy with Social Doubles!
We welcome prospective members at
our monthly social doubles events. These events are casual,
fun and typically attended by players at all levels. They occur
on the third Friday of the month. If you are interested in joining
the GLTF and want to "give us a try", contact
our Social Director,
Danny
Lin, for details. These social doubles
are open to both men and women. For
specific women's social doubles events, contact Ember Harker.

Meeting Other Club Members
The GLTF organizes two New Member Mixers each year that are
designed to help you meet other members to play tennis with. The
Membership Director can also help you find players close to your
home.
As a member, you will have access to the club roster that lists member contact info and their playing levels. Take the initiative and give someone a call or e-mail to set up some tennis! There are many opportunities to play tennis, socially and competitively, in the club including social doubles, ladder play, club tournaments, club-sponsored USTA teams, and team tennis. Events are held at various locations in the Greater San Francisco Area (including the East Bay, and South Bay).

Joining the GLTF allows you to receive our club
e-mail bulletin (Ad Out), and access
the GLTF Members-Only Website. The GLTF website features up-to-date
information on upcoming events, applications for events, online
fee payment service, club roster, downloadable newsletters, and
pictures and results from all club events throughout the year!

Competitive Play
The Club sponsors tournaments and events for members at all
levels of play throughout the year, including:
- Compass Doubles Championships
- Jim Holloran Club Singles Championships
- Robert Sissenstein
Club Doubles Championships
- Over 35's Championships
- Mixed Doubles Mixer
- Spring and Fall Team Tennis
- United States Gay Open (featuring
over 200 participants from the U.S. and abroad)
Club members of all levels can also join GLTF teams that participate in USTA-sponsored USA adult leagues. The various teams sponsored by the club have different philosophies about their goals. Some are more competitive than others. All provide a good time and some high-quality tennis.
For Open-level men (NTRP 4.0-5.0), the GLTF sponsors a team in the annual Cal Cup competition, featuring the best players from the San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles' gay tennis clubs.The Pacific Cup competition is open to USTA 3.5 level players and involves gay tennis clubs from Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. The GLTF teams won both the Cal Cup and Pacific Cup in 2002.
Tennis Lessons/Clinics
Several GLTF members are teaching pros. Members are encouraged
to contact these teachers for individual or group lessons. Some
even offer special rates for GLTF members. As a GLTF member you
will have access to the Lessons page on our Members-Only website
for contact information to these teaching pros.
We also hold monthly tennis clinic (at a reduced fee) for 2 hours of instruction in groups of 12 players of all levels. For Novice level players, we run a Tennis Welcome Centre Program.

Joining allows you to receive a discounted initiation
fee when joining the San Francisco Tennis
Club.
